As a new mom, being told that my milk production was great and that I should not have anything to worry about I was pretty darn happy and ready to get nursing.
Fast forward 3 months and things had changed. I was now pumping and nursing but started to notice my supply was dwindling. I didn’t know what to do about this. I drank more water, took warm showers, had my babe nurse on both more often but nothing seemed to be working. That’s when I spoke to my naturopath at True Roots Healthcare and she suggested I try a nursing tea (there are many brands out there but the one I use is a blend made at the naturopathic clinic I go to and is a loose leaf blend).
I will say, I was a bit skeptical at first, I mean come on, a tea, really…this was her big suggestion to magically amp up my milk production again!!! I gave it a try anyway and , well, I can happily say that it began to work. Not only that, it tastes amazing and I look forward to my cups of daily goodness!!!
My suggestion to new moms who may be having the same issue with their milk supply…don’t downplay anything and try everything. If nothing seems to be working I’m also a firm believer in “do what works to feed your babe”…don’t fear alternatives to breastmilk yes ladies I mean try formula!!! Your baby needs to eat and you need to remain happy and sane. Love yourself and know that you will make the best decisions for both yourself and your little one.

When your fitness options become limited due to an ever expanding belly what does one do…well they snowshoe of course! Sanity saver at 36 weeks pregnant! 😊👶🏻❄️.
I have loved being able to remain active throughout my pregnancy so when I started getting pelvic floor pain after my runs I thought my jogging days were over…that was until my girlfriend loaned me this contraption.
The belly belt saved my sanity quite literally…I can jog again! This makes for one happy Prego!
I highly recommend this for any lady experiencing pelvic pain that may be caused by physical activity! 😄👶🏻🏃🏻♀️

So things have taken a turn (for the better) once again for me.
My husband and are now anxiously awaiting our new bundle of joy and new adventures to begin. Our first child is due January 2017 and let me tell you, it is a mix of emotions. I definitely feel blessed and happy as I have had a pretty good pregnancy so far (that I strongly attribute to healthy living) but I have also had some reservations and anxiety. Am I going to be a good mom, is our baby going to be happy and healthy, have I been doing things right throughout this pregnancy journey…so many questions and none of them seem to be able to be answered until the time comes.
Along with this news has come the realization that I have once again had to make some tough choices and re-evaluate my journey in life. One of these choices that I have had to re-think is my path to becoming a certified Personal Trainer (at least until I am physically able to achieve it that is). Don’t get me wrong, I still want to pursue my passion but my timing has had to change. Although I have to put this dream on hold for the moment, on the other hand I have become very interested in pregnancy health, nutrition and fitness and I am very keen on taking speciality class for prenatal and post natal fitness along with nutrition courses that relate to this as well! 😊
You see, I have been lucky enough to have been able to remain active throughout my pregnancy so far and I feel very fortunate for this. I am a firm believer that staying fit and active throughout this journey has helped me remain more upbeat and positive (really it’s just kept me sane). Along with this I have done a lot of personal research on fitness during pregnancy and healthy living while pregnant and that is where this new interest all began.
I definitely still have the goal of working as a Personal Trainer and helping people of all levels and skills achieve happiness and health but I for sure want to add this new passion to my list of goals.
So I guess as it stands I will continue to do my best to remain healthy as we await our new arrival and will look forward to pursuing new passions in the new year (kind of fitting it think, new year, new goals, new passion and new adventures)!

So things have been pretty hectic with lots of changes happening within my life. Work has been a bit stressful but having great coworkers definitely makes working around it that much easier. Thank goodness for a great work family!
My husband and I have also decided to make some changes in our lives which has proven to be positive. More to come on that…
And…I have also decided to stop taking the Applied Nutrition program and focus my attention on the fitness side of the wellness industry. Although making this decision has not been an easy one and I am sure people are viewing it as a failure, I have decided I have to follow my heart and do what feels right. I love nutrition and eating well but once I began the courses I realized I loved it for me, not as a career.
I spoke with a few local fitness professionals and Nutritionist to get a feel of the local industry as well and the more research I did the more I felt drawn to the fitness industry.
So there it is, I have not given up fully on the nutrition side as I feel fitness and nutrition go hand in hand, I have just decided to focus my energy on something different while still educating myself about nutrition along the way.
I believe life is a journey and you have to keep learning or it will end up being one boring, repetitive hike! As I alway say, take it one step at a time and always be learning.
The personal trainer and group instructor courses I will be taking don’t start until this summer so I am focusing my energy and time right now on my job, family and home life. Just sorting this thing called life out while making mistakes along the way, because that’s all part of being human is it not?
Thanks again for following me along my path and I hope you will continue to do so. I hope to keep sharing my ups and downs with you throughout my journey 😊.
I would love to share my journey with you through all types of avenues!
Please join me on Instagram while I navigate through this journey called life. I look forward to sharing my experiences and insight with you!

I just returned from a trip out West to Whistler, BC. So much beauty to see and fun to be had. My husband and I also celebrated our one year wedding anniversary while there, not a bad spot to celebrate your life with the one you love.
Never thought I would snowmobile in the mountains but I did 😊. I see why people go out to visit for a week and never come home. I am missing the views and fun already. Back to the grind of work and studying now. Nice to take a break and relax and enjoy life every now and then.
Make sure you take some time to enjoy the company of not only that one special person in your life but all the people you love, today and everyday!

I finally registered myself in the Applied Nutrition Diploma Program at Alive Academy. Took me a bit longer then planned but sometimes life gets in the way and plans don’t always come together as fast as you would have hoped.
I am looking forward to hitting the books and learning all I can about living a holistic life.
I will be sure to keep posting updates along my journey. Here’s to new beginnings.
Wish me luck 👍🏻

What a great weekend!
I find that I am often guilty of getting caught up in focusing on the negative things that have happened in my life or that are going on around me that I forget to take a breath and just enjoy the good things.
Over this past weekend we celebrated my husbands 33rd birthday. We spent Friday night at the family cottage with family and friends and then we took off for a relaxing evening at a little inn called Sir Sam’s Inn. Our room had a great view of a local beautiful lake and included a whirl pool bath and wood burning fireplace. We finally got to just put our feet up, sit back and just relax.
Being away and not having to focus on what we had to do next also allowed us to re-connect and talk about all the good and positive things in our lives. We talked about us, what we see coming up in the future and we really just took time to just be…no expectations or stressors lurking in the back of our minds.
I truely believe that sometimes you just need to take some time for yourself to unwind and unplug.
I have really been focusing on this as of late and I have been making a concious effort to take some me time, and doing my best to not feel guilty about it. It’s OK to think about the negative things that might be going on around you, that is just human nature to do so, but you can’t let it consume you. Sometimes you just need to get away (even if it is just for few short hours) and just breath and stop to think about all the good in your life. Maybe it’s as simple as starting a gratitude journal in which you take some time at the end of each day to jot down 3 things that you are great-full for or maybe you have more free time and can get away on a yoga retreat with a friend or by yourself to just unwind. Whatever it may be, realize when you need to “unplug” and take some time for yourself. Know that this is OK, not selfish, and that it is needed in order to regroup and reconnect with the world around you while gathering your personal thoughts and establishing your goals.
A great little spot that you may want to visit in order to relax and regroup, if you’re in the area, is Sir Sam’s Inn. This is a quiet and relaxing place where you won’t have any trouble just letting go and taking some “you” time.

The photo below was taken while my husband and I were out enjoying a great X-country ski at Moose Woods, a small, volunteer ran ski trail system in Haliburton, ON. This was a quaint, little warming hut along the trails that had a nice fire place going and hot chocolate ready to be enjoyed ❤️☕️. Great spot to get fit and unwind!
